Mae The American rock group MAE--DAVE ELKINS (lead vocals/guitars), JACOB MARSHALL (drums) and ZACH GEHRING (guitar)--have announced they’ll release (M) ORNING, (A)FTERNOON and (E)VENING, a collection of EP’s April through December 2009 on Cell Records.

MAE has committed to offer 100% of the proceeds from the digital sales of (M)ORNING, (A)FTERNOON and (E)VENING to fund humanitarian and charitable projects. Each month, MAE is offering a song as a digital download and all songs can be purchased for a minimum donation of $1 on www.whatismae.com.

“From the beginning MAE has been about making music and using our voice to help serve as a bridge to connect people and build community,” explains drummer JACOB MARSHALL. “For the entirety of 2009, our desire is to be the change we want to see in the world.” Since January, MAE has raised over $35,406.60. The group has partnered with their local Habitat for Humanity in Newport News, VA to build a house for Rhonda Floyd, a local resident in need of a home.

In touring news, fans can expect to hear many of the new songs from the (M) ORNING, (A)FTERNOON and (E)VENING EP collection now, as MAE is currently in the midst of a U.S. headlining tour with Person L, Barcelona and Tokyo (see full itinerary below). The (M)ORNING, (A)FTERNOON and (E)VENING EP collection marks the group’s first release since their critically acclaimed album Singularity (2007). Check out what critics had to say about MAE and Singularity:

“Mae: An unclassifiable band (always a good thing), Mae confounds expectations. The punchy rhythm section and slamming guitars bespeak a sort of emo, but there’s that keyboard and Dave Elkins’ almost pretty yet conversational vocals.
--Los Angeles Times (8/29/07)

“…a powerful rock album hearkening back to 90’s rock favorites Pearl Jam and Smashing Pumpkins combined with a healthy dose of their pop roots.”
--Kevin Wade, Alternative Press 4 out-of 5 star CD review (10/2007)

“...a fetching sense of melody and rhythmic shifts that recall Anberlin and Jimmy Eat World.”
--Brian Mansfield, USA Today (8/28/07), 3 star CD review

“…a tightly focused rock album from a thoughtful, talented band.”
--Grant Shellen, Paste (10/2007)
